Promotion of sports events as well as the promotion of other products and services through sporting events.
The element promoted can be a physical product or a brand name.  

Marketing through sporting events is a marketing strategy and promotion through the sponsorship of sporting events. It involves corporate events and boxes, licensed merchandise, names and images, advertising through broadcaster, advertising as ground signage/clothing/equipment, promoting games and using players/club/league. Every time the audience attends a sporting event it will see the advertisements again and again, providing a wide range of opportunities for the different brands.
